The Summer before the exhibition would be on view. I joined to complete the provenance research for the Barkley Hendricks show. This exhibition would be a rare opportunity to showcase contemporary art alongside Old Masters that inspired the foundation and aesthetic of his work as he emerged in New York City.
Working with Hendrick’s estate, several libraries across the city, and through diligent online research, I sourced every possible documented text written about Barkley Hendricks, his work, and the life he led as an artist, community member, faculty member, and mentor.
