Black Art has seen disproportionate acclaim for the contributions to visual and contemporary art culture until recent years when political and social importance around art has launched careers and notoriety of household names like Barkley Hendricks, Faith Ringgold, and Alvin Ailey- who respectively have carved out spaces in abstract, performance, and figuration.
